Highway 154 is commonly known as one of the most beautiful highways in California. At Earthcomb, we recognize that many travelors get their first glimpse of beautiful Santa Barbara when they come over thetop of highway 154 from Santa Ynez Valley. For some visitors, the 154 is their first view of the ocean.
Earthcomb believes that this highway is a crucial first impression of us lucky Santa Barbara residents. As such, Earthcomb finds it crucial to keep this highway clean to maintain the cities appearance to our lucky visitors and neighboring cities.
Santa Barbara is undoubtedly a highly desirable city to visit worldwide, so it is important to maintain the beautiful city we are lucky enough to call our home. As residents, it is our job to preserve and protect. This is theEarthcomb way.
Earthcomb is part of the ‘Adopt A Highway’ program, through California’s maintenance/management corp: Caltrans. We have adopted highway 154, from the 101 freeway to the top near East Camino Cielo. Earthcomb’s previous encrouchment permits can be viewed here: (LINK)
Earthcomb has removed approximately 70 bags of litter from highway 154 in the last year. That’s an estimated 3,200 pounds of litter. This area of the highway gets an overwhelming amount of day to day litter. With this in mind; Earthcomb plans to extend this project indefinitely. Earthcomb also hopes to see some additional enforcement and regulation of the litter laws in areas like this.
